MMO Gold Merchants IGE Sued

IGE, which is one of the leading MMO gold farming companies, has been sued for reaping considerable profits by knowingly interfering with and substantially impairing the intended use and enjoyment of Blizzard’s World of Warcraft.

Dr. S. Gregory Boyd told Gamasutra, “The game designers and publishers do their best to make those games to stand the test of time and keep the economies in balance. When people play the game in an unauthorized way, for profit, it threatens to send the game economies out of balance and diminishes the experience of all the players in the world.”

Boyd also stated that players don’t really have a voice against the gold farmers and the legal action would at least give them some justice. Last week, Blizzard had taken an initiative and sent warning to all gold farming firms. And it is not just World of Warcraft that is facing this problem; other massively multiplayer online games like LOTR are also facing the same issue. Let’s hope that this will bring some hope to the MMO gamers who don’t cheat.
