Blizzard Issues Warning to Gold Farming Firms

Blizzard has always taken a stand against malpractices. Last year, it banned around 59, 000 World of Warcraft accounts for breaching their terms of contract. This time around, Blizzard has declared war on the gold farming firms that offer their goods and services to other players.

Blizzard Warning to Gold Farming

A representative of Blizzard explained on the forums, “Blizzard has filed a federal lawsuit against the operators of Peons4hire, a popular gold-selling organization which many of you have no doubt seen advertised. As part of the lawsuit, the operators of Peons4hire have been asked to immediately cease all in-game spamming efforts by all entities and websites under their control”

However, it is not going to be an easy job for Blizzard as there are many firms, especially in China, that have lots of employees who play MMOs for twelve hours a day. These gamers collect valuable virtual items or currency and sell it to customers, mostly from the affluent class residing in western countries who do not want to spend time playing the lower levels of the game.

The gold farming firms also used bots and used to spam WoW gamers soliciting their services. It had become a nuisance for the gamers until Blizzard came out with spam filters for the game.
