Runic games, the folks who made Diablo, seem to be on cloud nine at the moment. The dungeon crawling RPG, Torchlight developed by Runic Games has apparently managed to sell over one million units across PC, Mac and Xbox 360 platforms.
The game was released in 2009 for PC while the Xbox 360 version debuted this year. This July, developers had stepped–up their sales pitch by offering a July 4 holiday sale on Steam as a part of their Deal of the Week promotion for Xbox 360.
Travis Baldree, President, Runic Games, shared, “We’re very excited to share Torchlight’s success with our fans and supporters. It’s been a great ride so far and we can’t wait to give everyone more of what they want in Torchlight II. It isn’t every day you sell a million games. We’re grateful to be here.”
As Baldree mentions, Runic Games has also announced that they are currently working on a sequel to Torchlight titled Torchlight II. Additional details of the same are available on its website.
