Sony’s handheld gaming console, the PlayStation Portable is one useful device. Besides playing games, gamers can also use it as a media player and a GPS device. Now gamers will be able to use the PSP to call friends, discuss the latest tactics or simply catch up with acquaintances.
Sony is planning to announce that Skype will be coming to PlayStation Portable. But there is no information on how Skype will fit in the plans for the portable’s Go! Messenger service that was developed in conjunction with BT. Though Go! Messenger provided gamers in Europe with services like video calls, instant messaging, voice chat and voice messaging; it seems that Skype will be targeted at gamers in North America.
There are no precise details about the release dates or technical specifications. Sony is expected to come up with more details about Skype on the PSP at this year’s CES in Las Vegas, which takes place from January 7 to 10.
