It’s slim pickings this week for Wii owners, as Nintendo has released just a single game each for WiiWare and the Virtual Console for the week. On WiiWare is the Hudson Entertainment title, Military Madness: Nectaris, previously available for the Xbox Live Arcade and on the PlayStation Network, while for the VC we have Zaxxon, an arcade game from Sega.
Military Madness: Nectaris, the turn-based strategy game hits WiiWare with a new commander unit, online team and vs. multiplayer modes, a new graphical explosion and several other features like multiple command views and detailed stat-tracking leaderboards. Military Madness: Nectaris is for 1 to 4 players and is available for 1000 Wii Points.
Zaxxon for the VC is for one player and from publisher Sega. It is hailed as the first game to put video display in perspective, and featured sounds and visuals resembling actual aircraft. Players command their airship while dodging enemy projectiles, blowing up walls and strafing fuel tanks. The next step is taking the fight to the enemy fighter fleet in order to destroy the aggressor ships. Zaxxon is available for 800 Wii Points.
Nintendo releases new titles every Monday to the Nintendo DSi Shop and Wii Shop Channel. Points purchased can only be used on a single Nintendo system. Nintendo also has parental controls so that parents can monitor and control the kind of content their children have access to.
