Nvidia PhysX SDK now available to Wii developers

Nvidia has announced that the company has been given the go ahead to be a third party tools solution provider for Nintendo’s Wii home console. This means that the Nvidia PhysX technology software development kit will be available to all legitimate Wii developers. Earlier we reported about the Nvidia PhysX technology SDK for PS3 developers.

“Nintendo has reshaped the home entertainment and video game market with the success of the Wii console,” declared Tony Tamasi, senior VP of content and technology at Nvidia. “Adding a PhysX SDK for the Wii is key to our cross-platform strategy and integral to the business model for our licensed game developers and publishers. With Nvidia PhysX technology, developers can easily author more realistic game environments for the evolving demands of a broad class of Wii gamers.”

The Nvidia PhysX software development kit comes with a full-featured API and tough physics engine. This enables developers to control many aspects such as player interaction with the environment. The PhysX SDK is available for licnese directly from Nvidia and is for the Wii and all major gaming platforms.
