Nintendo 3DS Lineup Straight From E3

Following its initial press conference, which saw the Japanese game-maker unveil new titles for its upcoming Wii U console, the company has gone on to reveal new details regarding fresh content for the Nintendo 3DS. At the helm of it all is New Super Mario Bros. 2 which will hit the handheld on August 19, 2012, while other games like Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon and Paper Mario: Sticker Star too are gearing up to hit the 3DS.

As announced earlier, New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a sequel to the earlier installment, and contains various fresh features for players to indulge in. Gold Mario and Raccoon Mario will both be playable, while gamers will also be able to challenge their friends and beat their high scores in the new Coin Rush mode. This installment will mark the first time in a Mario game that players will get to jump into a cooperative two-player mode for the entire campaign.

Another big announcement was that of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon which is finally ready to release during the holiday season. This second iteration to the series will have Luigi solving puzzles and revealing hidden details as he traverses through haunted mansions. The final Nintendo 3DS game coming from Nintendo’s very own development team is Paper Mario: Sticker Star. Also slated for this holiday season, the action role-playing game will see the debut of the franchise on a handheld device.

Konami had disclosed yesterday that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate would come for the 3DS, but Nintendo has gone on to confirm that the much loved character Alucard, the son of Dracula himself, will also be present within the game. Disney Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion which was unveiled earlier this year, received new details at this year’s E3. Inspired by the classic Castle of Illusion game, this new title will be made available for the 3DS in November 2012, along with its console counterpart.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment took the veil off Scribblenauts Unlimited, and disclosed that apart from the Wii U, this game will also make its way to the 3DS and PC. Square Enix, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of its franchise, will be releasing Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] for the 3DS on July 31. The game will offer support for StreetPass features, AR cards and the Circle Pad Pro accessory.

Other third-party games lined up to launch for the Nintendo 3DS this year include Transformers Prime from Activision, Rabbids Rumble from Ubisoft, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Heroes of Ruin from Square Enix.
