Nintendo 3DS Tailored Region-Specific

Seemingly, Nintendo has been hard at work to ensure that everything surrounding the 3DS is just perfect. First, the company issued a word of warning advising children under the age of six years to keep their hands off the 3D mode on the device. Now, according to a post on Eurogamer, the 3DS could come integrated with a region-specific lock as games from one part of the world apparently won’t be playable in another.

It has been stated that the gaming giant recently issued a statement, highlighting that the Nintendo 3DS software purchased in a region will not work properly on the hardware bought from someplace else. To ascertain that gamers need not face such troubles, the company has pasted labels rolling out guidance instructions on envelopes draping the hardware and the accompanying software.

Rumor has it that the handheld gaming system is being sculpted out in three variants, serving enthusiasts across the Japanese, American and European/Australian markets. Each version of the hardware will be tailored as per the age rating requirements, major languages spoken, parental control functionality and local laws followed in the region. Further, the company recommends that players should purchase the hardware and software from the same region for indulging in a smooth gaming experience.

Though we’ve not heard more from the house of Nintendo yet, we hope that the company will soon clear the 3DS sky which has been clouded for some time now. As for the regional lockout programming, it is only to be seen if this can help deliver a seamless gaming experience.
