Sega Game Gear Classics to hit Nintendo eShop

The Nintendo 3DS finally made its way into the Japanese market last month after a string of speculations, rumors and hype. Though developers have been making announcements about their offerings for the 3DS right from the time it surfaced, the number has risen with the device’s much awaited arrival. Sega has revealed that it will join hands with Nintendo to bring its classic Game Gear titles onto the system through the recently launched eShop.

“This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Game Gear system, and we believe that releasing these titles on the groundbreaking Nintendo 3DS is a great way to commemorate the occasion,” commented Haruki Satomi, Vice President of Digital Business at Sega of America. “Both new fans and those with fond memories of time spent playing their Game Gear will surely find something to love in our upcoming lineup of Nintendo eShop titles.”

It has been disclosed that Game Gear fan favorite titles are being revamped for the newly dished out gaming hardware. The retro collection of games, developed exclusively for the handheld console, is expected to further add zing into the satisfaction rendered by it. Until now, five titles from the assortment have been finalized for the 3DS which will be offered soon to players through the Nintendo eShop service.

Nintendo 3DS will be available in the US on March 27, 2011 at the price of 249.99 USD (approx. Rs. 11,248).
