WarioWare D.I.Y. Gives Players Power to Design Microgames

Many games out there allow for user-generated content which can expand the game experience. Now Nintendo has announced that WarioWare D.I.Y. for the DS family allows players to design their own microgames using artwork, animations and music. Thus the game will be limited only to players’ imaginations.

The game has over 90 built-in microgames which can be unlocked as the game progresses. Users can choose to create their own microgames when they wish, choosing from a library of ready-made graphics, sounds and game elements. Alternatively they can take it to the next level and build entire new microgames from scratch.

“With WarioWare: D.I.Y., Nintendo is giving players a glimpse into the process of making video games, providing them with the tools to bring their ideas to life and share them with friends,” Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing explained. “For anyone who has ever wondered how their favorite video games came to be, this is sure to be a fun and rewarding experience not to be missed.”

Wii owners will get their own version of the game as WiiWare on March 29, 2010 with 70 additional microgames. They will also be able to access microgames they created on their DS. The Wii version will even have an unlockable multiplayer mode for microgames for up to four players.

WarioWare D.I.Y. for the Nintendo DS will allow DS owners to transfer microgames they’ve created on their systems amongst friends. Nintendo will make more microgames available after launch, which users with broadband internet access will be able to download.
