Bayer Drops in with Didget Blood Glucose Monitoring System for Nintendo DS

Bayer is noted to be a German chemical and pharmaceutical company. The Nintendo DS is all set to get a new blood glucose monitoring device in the form of Didget from Bayer. This system can be attached to the DS console and bestows players with reward points for consistent testing.

According to Gamasutra, the Didget device is a completely functional blood glucose monitor that has the ability to work even without the gaming console. Didget accurately reads and records blood sugar concentration levels of the player through the Contour test strips from Bayer. The device is perfectly compatible with Nintendo DS and DS Lite systems. It attaches to the system via the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot.

The blood glucose monitoring product then converts the test results into reward points. These points can then be used in a DS adventure game known as Knock ‘Em Down that is seen bundled with the Didget device itself. With these points, players can unlock new items, levels and mini games. All this is aimed at encouraging consistent testing especially with children.

Didget also includes an online community with score leaderboards as well as player profile pages and web games which can be customized using the reward points. A fully detailed online demonstration of the game and device is offered on the Bayer’s website.
