Lego Rock Band for Nintendo DS announced, details revealed

Lego Rock Band rumours had been around until MTV Games announced the game in April. Now Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, Harmonix, MTV Games and the Lego Group have announced Lego Rock Band for the Nintendo DS and revealed a few details. The game merges the addictive gameplay of the Rock Band franchise with Lego styled humour.

The game does not require the use of any peripherals to be played and will feature a multiplayer mode which allows up to four players to take part in local wireless multiplayer gameplay. The DS version allows players to rock out as comical Lego people at local venues and locations and even fantasy environments on Earth.

All the featured instruments, bass, drums, guitar and vocals can be played using the DS buttons or the touchscreen. The gameplay is suited for both young as well as experienced players seeking a challenge. The soundtrack includes the following tracks:

    Ruby – Kaiser Chiefs.
    Monster – The Automatic.
    Ghostbusters – Ray Parker Jr.
    Free Fallin’ – Tom Petty.
    I Want You Back – Jackson 5.
    A-Punk – Vampire Weekend.

    Kung Fu Fighting – Carl Douglas.
    The Final Countdown – Europe.
    Girls & Boys – Good Charlotte.
    So What – Pink.
    Accidentally in Love – Counting Crows.

Lego Rock Band will be compatible with the Nintendo DS, the DS Lite and the Nintendo DSi and is developed by Backbone Entertainment. The game is being developed for the PS3, Xbox 360 and the Wii by TT Games in conjunction with Harmonix. All versions of the game are scheduled to release in the holiday season of 2009.
