The Spore franchise has received a lot of backing from its fans and critics for its innovative style of gameplay. Earlier we reported that EA was set to expand the franchise to include Spore Hero and Spore Hero Arena, bringing it on the ever popular Nintendo consoles. Now Maxis, a division of Electronic Arts, has revealed an early October release date for Spore Hero and Spore Hero Arena on the Wii and the Nintendo DS exclusively.
“Spore Hero and Spore Hero Arena give Spore and Nintendo fans a new, dynamic and engaging way to interact with their customised creature heroes,” stated Lucy Bradshaw, Vice President and General Manager at Maxis. “Players’ heroes take center stage as both games, distinctly tailor-made for its Nintendo platform, infuse creativity, combat and adventure to create a unique gameplay experience on the Wii and Nintendo DS.”
Set in a rich 3D world, the action-packed Wii exclusive Spore Hero, provides unmatched creative freedom to Wii owners as they take off on a quest to save their creature’s home planet from annihilation. On the way, players can collect over 250 new creature parts by engaging in fun battles and solving puzzles. These parts can be used to customize creatures in the Spore Creature Creator. The game also features a multiplayer mode.
Spore Hero Arena throws players into the foray with intense arena-based combat. Set in the same universe as Spore Hero, Spore Hero Arena also challenges players to save their creatures’ home planet from some evil force. Players can create a gladiator creature and battle with other such creatures to earn upgrades, and new parts which can be added to the player’s arsenal. Spore Hero Arena features multiplayer capabilities with up to three friends battling it out locally or via the handheld console’s Wi-Fi connection.
Spore Hero is expected to release on October 9, 2009 for the Wii for a price of 39.99 GBP (approx. Rs. 3,190) while Spore Hero Arena is also scheduled to release on October 9, 2009 but for a price of 29.99 GBP (approx. Rs. 2,390).
