A few days ago, we had reported about Enterbrain president Hirokazu Hamamura pointing out that there would be an announcement about a new Nintendo DS at this year’s E3 Media and Business Summit. But now IGN is reporting that Nintendo has confirmed that there will NOT be a new DS announcement at E3.
The head of public relations at Nintendo Japan quoted, “We cannot comment on the specifics of what will be announced at E3, but at the very least there won’t be anything like what Mr. Hamamura suggested, so would like to clearly deny this. We’re having a hard time understanding what kind of evidence Mr. Hamamura had for saying this.”
Hamamura had spoken with Bloomberg Japan and pointed towards Nintendo’s historical context and said that there is a possibility about a new Nintendo DS being unveiled at E3 2008. Well, even though Nintendo has denied about a new model of their handheld gaming console, we will have to wait till E3 to find out the truth.
