Hitman GO announced as turn-based strategy game for smartphones and tablets

Yes, even we’re excited about the upcoming AAA Hitman game which was announced sometime back, but for now, we’ll have to make do with a smartphone and tablet spin-off called Hitman GO. Square Enix Montreal has gone ahead and released details regarding this new turn-based strategy title, and the other important thing it has mentioned in its blog post is that ‘you won’t have to wait too long’ to hear about the next-gen game from the series.

Hitman GO

Coming back to Hitman GO, as can be seen in its only available screenshot, the game is to feature diorama-style set pieces. It will ask you to navigate fixed spaces on a grid, while avoiding enemies, taking out targets and infiltrating locations, thus keeping the essence of the much loved series alive. Everything from disguises, distractions, sniper rifles and Agent 47’s beloved Silverballers will somehow be included in the game.

According to Square Enix Montreal, this offering was developed by a small core team, and is almost ready for a launch. Hitman GO is currently being tested by the developers, so we can expect a release soon. The studio has also acknowledged the fact that a number of the series’ fans don’t love mobile games, and it’s for them that they’ve issued a message which indicates that the reveal of the next-gen Hitman game could be right around the corner. E3 perhaps?

There’s no word yet on the platforms Square Enix plans on releasing Hitman GO for. We’ll have more on it when additional details are out.
