Lego Minifigures MMO to be Developed by Funcom

Funcom, the developer of the upcoming The Secret World, has signed a license agreement to team-up with the Lego Group in order to create a new MMO title named Lego Minifigures. It will be crafting this game based on the Minifigures lineup of collectible toys.

The Minifigures that will be featured in the game have, over the years, been put together by people of different age groups. Developer Funcom is known for its work on MMO titles, and its latest one – The Secret World is all geared up for launch next month. Based on myths, legends and conspiracies, this game will be published by EA Partners. Funcom hasn’t disclosed the theme of the new game as yet, but as is the case with other Lego video games, it is very likely to feature a light adventurous one.

“The market for family-friendly online experiences intended for children and youngsters are brimming with potential. Being able to work with a world-renowned brand such as the Lego brand to develop an MMO for this audience is incredibly exciting to us as game developers and for Funcom as a company. This is source material we all know and love and we simply cannot wait to get started working with the Lego Group on realizing this exciting project,” commented Trond Arne Aas, Funcom CEO.

The group estimates that by the end of this year, roughly 340 million Minifigures will be designed. The associated companies will be working and coordinating with each other to offer the game online to provide maximum accessibility and enhance the product line experience. This title will be published as a piece of the group’s Minifigures online experience that is said to have already become popular amongst the crowd.

Lego Minifigures is yet to receive a release date.
