Bobby Kotick Billion Dollars Claim Rubbished by Trion CEO

Last week, we had reported that Bobby Kotick, who is the chief executive officer of Activision, had claimed that an investment of a billion dollars would be needed to replicate the success of World of Warcraft. However, Lars Buttler from Trion spoke to gaming news website GameDaily.biz and indicated that Activision is trying to scare away the competition.

World of Warcraft

Lars Buttler is the chief executive officer and founder of Trion World Network. He said, “We understand that Activision has to defend its merger and scare competition, but I have to call his bluff. We could not be more impressed with what Blizzard has started but World of Warcraft is just the beginning; it is pretty wild to suggest that there is only one team that could ever realize the potential of the connected era and that there is no one out there that can deliver, no matter what the investment.”

Lars Buttler called Blizzard a great team but then he also mentioned that there are other great teams out there who will make smart decisions, influence the full benefit of connectivity and define the future of interactive entertainment. Buttler also spoke about his company, Trion and said that as of now they are examining global markets and will be getting in touch with developers who are open to server-based gaming.
