Halo: The Master Chief Collection headed to Xbox One with all main games from series?

The Halo: The Master Chief Collection is something fans of the series are much likely to be treated to this year. This apparent bundle contains all four main titles from the series and is being said to have been slated for an Xbox One launch later this year. This means a graphical overhaul for all these games is on the cards, and perhaps even a 60fps promise.

Halo 4

Engadget has received word from its sources that the Halo: The Master Chief Collection is an HD package. And the fact that it is expected to be released later this year grants credence to the latest announcement from Microsoft which talked about a secret extension of the Halo experience coming in 2014 ahead of 2015’s Halo 5: Guardians. If indeed true, the collection will kick in Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4, while excluding Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach as they are both spin-offs.

Since it was Saber Interactive who developed the HD version of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary for the Xbox 360, the same studio is expected to be behind the revival of these classics on the Xbox One. While the first game from the series was released in 2001, its sequel came out in 2004. The third main entry followed in 2007, whereas the latest main entry was released in 2012.

And now, as we gear up for 2015’s Halo 5: Guardian, fans as well as those who are yet to catch up on the series will be pleased if a Halo: The Master Chief Collection does pop up this year. We’re expecting clarity on this at E3.
