Xbox One firmware update delayed, big software changes coming this March

By now, the Xbox One should have received its February system update which was to bestow its software with several cosmetic alterations, but Microsoft has delayed it further without giving a reason for the same. The company however, has gone ahead and provided us with a detailed look at another huge update it plans to deploy for the console in March, granting an overhaul to its multiplayer and social features.

Announced earlier this month, a new update for the Xbox One was supposed to land yesterday, but an announcement of its delay was made by Major Nelson through his Twitter account. He has also mentioned that it will definitely be landing this week, but the exact date hasn’t been provided. Separate tabs for My Games and My Apps will be added to the interface by this update, whereas it will also be making it easier for you to manage the storage space on the system. Furthermore, a battery life indicator for the controller as well as support for a USB keyboard will be added.

As for the March update, it will also be seen kicking in big software changes. Following the upgrade, entering a party will automatically turn on Party chat audio, while you will now be able to chat with friends playing different games without having to enter Skype. The Friends app on the Xbox One will move the friends list to its main screen, and two options for multiplayer games will be added in the form of ‘Invite friends to game’ and ‘Recent players.’

There’s no concrete date for the Xbox One March update, but Microsoft has mentioned that it’s trying to get it out prior to the release of Titanfall which is to take place on March 11.
