A release date for the Halo 4 Castle Map Pack has been given out by Microsoft, revealing that this third such add-on for the much loved game will be arriving via Xbox Live on April 8, 2013. The new content is included within the purview of the title’s Season Pass, dubbed the War Games Map Pass. With its focus set on team objective and vehicular combat, it grants gamers access to three new maps as well as a new 6 vs. 6 playlist.

The Castle Map Pack for Halo 4 is being developed by Certain Affinity – a studio known to have created additional content for the series in the past as well – in collaboration with 343 Industries of course. The three medium-to-large maps that have been infused into it are aimed at facilitating vehicular warfare and big battles over open spaces. A post on Major Nelson’s official blog also mentioned that these maps encourage team strategy on the battlefield.

First among the three is called Daybreak, and has two UNSC bases resisting each other’s advances. This asymmetrical map asks both the teams to attack enemy bases while also providing protection for their own. The second map from the pack is dubbed Outcast. This circular arena which is set in a desert environment requires controlling of vehicle paths, as it is filled with frequent Mantis vs. Wraith battles.
Last among the three is Perdition which is said to be a blend of long sightlines, vehicles and close-quarters combat. It has been set in an urban environment, and is full of interior routes that are essential to escaping danger and finishing off enemies. Apart from this content, the DLC will also come equipped with a 6 vs. 6 playlist that gamers will get to jump into for ease of play. Moreover, the new maps from within the pack will also be instilled into the Infinity Slayer, Big Team Objective and Dominion playlists.

Upon its release on April 8, the Halo 4 Castle Map Pack will be seen selling on Xbox Live at a price of 800 Microsoft Points. Those in the possession of the game’s Season Pass however, will be able to download it for free.
