The Star Wars series could easily be one of the most loved movie franchises of all time. And this also means lots of merchandise being released year after year for fans to collect. Comic-Con yesterday saw one more range of such collectibles as Microsoft and LucasArts unveiled a Kinect Star Wars bundle to celebrate the release of the Kinect Star Wars game for the Xbox 360.

“There were probably a few Star Wars fans in the audience who can’t wait to become the Jedi with their trusted droids C-3PO and R2D2 alongside,” explained, David Dennis, group program manager for Xbox, later adding, “Rabid Star Wars fans tend to congregate at Comic-Con, so we decided to announce there and geek out right alongside some of the biggest fans around.”

Details, characters and themes of the bundle were under constant surveillance by Jedi Council, a real LucasArts team keeping a watch on all Star Wars-related products. The Kinect Star Wars game puts players in the shoes of a Jedi and takes place during the prequel trilogy timeline of the series. Starting from Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and concluding during the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, this title also involves a fight with Darth Vader.

The Kinect Star Wars bundle comes with a price tag of $449.99 and will hit markets later this year.
