Analyst Says Natal Will be Reasonably Priced

Microsoft’s Natal, to go with its Xbox 360, stirred up a whole lot of buzz when it was showcased last year. Playing games simply by gesturing in the air is every bit revolutionary and exciting, and something we’ve seen only in the movies so far. But all this futuristic technology must come at quite a whopping price, right? Well, video game analyst Michael Pachter doesn’t seem to think so, predicting that the launch price of the device will be around 50 dollars.

Xbox 360 Project Natal

On his web TV spot on Gametrailers, Pachter speaks about the Natal’s pricing saying, “I’d be very surprised if the thing is more than 79 dollars.” He continues, “Microsoft’s not trying to make money on the device. They’re trying to get everybody to have the device so that they can sell us other things.”

He reasons that even though in the past Microsoft has sold their Xbox 360 accessories such as the network adaptor and the external hard drive, at a high price, this won’t be the case with Natal. He figures that Microsoft will set the price of the Natal relatively low so that they can eventually sell us a lot more Xbox 360s.
