Kaz Hirai from Sony says Xbox Lacks Longevity

Sony and Nintendo surely must have felt a little uncomfortable when Microsoft decided to make video games consoles. Of course, Microsoft had a lot of trouble with the original Xbox and the Sony PS2 raked better sales but MS adopted an aggressive marketing strategy for the Xbox 360. However, Sony didn’t have a smooth sailing with the mighty PS3.

Xbox 360 Longevity

However, Kazuo Hirai, who is the chairman and group chief executive officer at Sony Computer Entertainment, has said that the Xbox lacks longevity. Speaking with the Official PlayStation Magazine, Hirai said, “And with the Xbox, again, I cannot come up with one word to fit. You need a word that describes something that lacks longevity.”

According to the Sony head, Microsoft has never had a games console, which has been on the market for five years and above. Hirai pointed out that Sony is committed to ten year life cycle. He also spoke about Nintendo and mentioned that they operate in a different world and Sony doesn’t look at their console as being competitors.
