Microsoft Not In A Hurry To Bring In The Next Xbox

Sony and too some extent, Nintendo, were cautious when Microsoft introduced the original Xbox a few years back. However, the console didn’t live up to the hype but MS introduced the next iteration, the Xbox 360, which has been doing pretty well. So now gamers are wondering, what will be next? Xbox 720? Xbox 360 II?

But Microsoft is keeping quiet about the next Xbox. Robbie Bach from Microsoft spoke about the life cycle of the video games consoles. Bach is the president of the entertainment and devices division at Microsoft. Speaking with The Mercury News, he pointed out that the life cycle of the current generation of the consoles will be longer.

Robbie Bach explained, “Just coming up with something that is faster and prettier is not going to be sufficient. The life cycle for this generation of consoles and I am not just talking about Xbox, I’d include Wii and PS3 as well is probably going to be a little longer than previous generations.”

Microsoft introduced their present generation console, the Xbox 360 much before Sony and Nintendo released the PS3 and Wii respectively. According to Robbie Bach, the consumers are going to be more value-conscious and Microsoft wants to guarantee that they are positioned well when the economy starts to recover.
