BioShock 2 Developers Speak About Single Player, Multiplayer Gameplay and Big Sisters

Anyone who has played BioShock will probably not call it a video game. It is usually referred to as a work of art. Naturally, when BioShock 2 was announced gamers got excited. GameGuru (GG) had a word with the BioShock 2 developers (BD), who answered some questions and clarified nearly all the doubts about the shooter. Here is the whole interview:

BioShock 2

GG: What can fans expect from BioShock 2?

BD: Like the first game, BioShock 2 is a “roll your own shooter” that gives the player the ability to determine how they experience the game. Every corner and every square foot of Rapture tells a story and players will be able to choose how much of the Rapture narrative they want to experience.

GG: Have the dates for BioShock 2 and Borderlands been set? If so when can fans expect to get their hands on the game?

BD: Borderlands is slated for release on 23 October while BioShock 2 will be available in early 2010.

there will be multiplayer, but no co-op.

GG: Can you elaborate on the BioShock movie? Can the fans really expect a movie based on the series?

GG: Can you give us some information on the story that BioShock 2 will follow?

BD: Because the single player game is a true sequel and the multiplayer game is essentially a prequel, the fiction is connected in the established time line of Rapture. The events of the multiplayer game show exactly how splicing became out of control and was used for weapons. While SP explores Rapture in even further decay 10 years after the events of the first game.

Single Player Mode. BioShock 2 takes place several years after the events of the original BioShock 2. As a part of Rapture’s history, the player will learn more about the sins of the city’s past as it evolves from a failed utopia to complete and uncontrolled chaos. You play as the first Big Daddy who served as the prototype of the Big Daddies that roam Rapture. We don’t want to go into too much detail at this time, but he’s dangerous in that he’s found a way to regain his free will and break away from the Big Daddy programming. You’re not just playing any Big Daddy in BioShock 2, you are the prototype that was created as an experiment. In fact, you were so powerful that you have the ability to utilize Plasmids and do all sorts of things the other Big Daddies can’t do. You are also more agile than the later Big Daddies you fought in BioShock.

The Big Sister is the new mysterious figure that plays a predatory role throughout the course of BioShock 2. She has the strength and power of the Big Daddy, but her nimbleness makes her a lethal adversary. Her moves are almost ninja-like and she moves with a speed that is unmatched by the Big Daddies, yet she retains many of the benefits of the Big Daddies. In addition to this ultimate foe, the Splicers that survived all of these years really are the best of the best and will provide a challenge even for the mighty Mr. Bubbles.

The Big Sister is one of the biggest mysteries in Rapture. She travels to the mainland and kidnaps young girls all along the coast. It’s later discovered that she has been turning these young girls into Little Sisters as she tries to recreate Rapture’s past. Throughout the game you’ll learn the reasons behind her actions and discover the relationship she has with your character and the history of Rapture.

Multi Player Mode. The multiplayer element takes place during the onset of the Civil War. Rapture has begun to descend into a state of chaos and disarray and the Plasmid industry has found a new purpose, the development of offensive and defensive purposes. Leading up to the Civil War, Plasmids were non-combative and helped Splicers cope with hair loss and other non-essential needs. Multiplayer takes you to the birth of combative Plasmids as you experience a number of Plasmids that enhance your player in a number of exciting ways that we can’t wait to tell you more about in the future!
