Razer’s wireless HyperFlux mouse gets its power from a mouse pad

Razer’s officially jumped into the wirelessly charging mouse bandwagon with the new Mamba HyperFlux mouse and Firefly HyperFlux mouse pad. The company’s take on the trend is high on style, infusing the pair with its signature green colors and colorful chroma lighting.

The Mamba HyperFlux is set apart by the fact that it doesn’t have a battery powering it at all. It relies entirely on the Firefly HyperFlux mat for its fuel, with the latter using a proprietary Razer Hyperflux wireless tech which uses a magnetic field to transfer power directly.

Ditching the battery could be seen as a negative by some since the mouse won’t be able to function independently. Razer says it got rid of the unit to cut out the associated weight. The result is a lightweight accessory which weighs in at just 96g, comparable to wired gaming mice.

Users can actually convert the Mamba HyperFlux to a wired mouse through the bundled cable provided. Meanwhile, the Firefly HyperFlux needs to be plugged into a computer to function. The pad comes with dual hard and cloth surfaces for speed and precision, respectively.

The Mamba HyperFlux itself boasts of a 16000 DPI 5G optical sensor and the company’s Adaptive Frequency Technology for strong wireless signal stability. Other highlights include its gaming-grade tactile scroll wheel, Razer Mechanical Mouse Switches, and 9 independently programmable hyperesponse action buttons.
