Ouya founder expresses anger at delayed shipments to backers

It’s a bummer that a small number of supporters who backed Ouya on Kickstarter haven’t received their units yet, despite the console having hit retail stores. Founder of the company, Julie Uhrman has stated in an update post that she’s ‘pissed’ at this delay, and has blamed the shipping company of the console for it.

Ouya

Ouya was supposed to ship to all backers prior to its retail release; particularly in March this year. But is has been noted that many supporters, mostly from outside the US, haven’t still got their units. According to a Games Industry International, a post on the Kickstarter page of the Android console, Uhrman has apologized to these consumers, declaring that the company is ‘working to solve this.’

It has also been revealed that costs for shipping have already been paid by the Ouya makers, and despite this, the orders still continue to lag behind. The company has now assured that affected backers can expect their units to reach their doorsteps within 15 to 17 days.

Ouya had launched a Kickstarter campaign back in July 2012, and its stint on the crowd-funding site had become a huge phenomenon since it became the second-highest-earning project in its history. Against an base goal of just 950,000 USD, more than 8,596,000 USD were raised, giving us a fair idea of what its popularity is.

It’s basically a hackable Android-based console which is extremely small in size (75mm × 75mm × 82mm to be exact), and comes bundled with a traditional controller. It hooks up with the TV via an HDMI connection, and is capable of delivering its output in 1080p full HD resolution. Inside it, a 1GB RAM and a quad core 1.7GHz processor toil to keep it going.
