Here’s your first glimpse at Xbox One’s Friends app

Bit by bit, we’re seeing various glimpses of the interface Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox One console will put forth for its buyers. In a new video released by the company, the machine’s social feed, profile pages and a new Follow functionality have all been highlighted, giving us a detailed breakdown of how they work. Major Nelson, through his official blog, has also provided an in-depth look at what these functions have on offer.

The Xbox One’s interface will feature a fresh Feed screen which has been aimed by Microsoft at displaying text-based updates of what games and apps your friends are using. You can also utilize a Kinect command in order to snap the feeds to right-hand side of the screen, allowing you to grab real-time updates about what your friends are up to, all while playing a game.

And then there’s the Facebook-like follow button which allows you to grab updates from anyone despite them not being your friends. You can decide for yourselves as to what information you want your followers to see. On the other hand, your friends will be able to share with you their activities in the same fashion as the various social networking sites.

More details can be grabbed from the video we’ve embedded in the space above. The Xbox One is slated to hit markets on November 22 this year, and its price has been revealed to be 499 USD (approx. Rs 30,000). Its fierce competitor, Sony’s PS4 will be seen selling at a lower price of 399 USD (approx. Rs 25,000) when it’s to be launched on November 15 (North America) and November 29 (Europe).
