In 2010, we sat down to a rather exclusive chat with Razer CEO, Min-Liang Tan, and listened to him explain how one of their headsets had more technology pumped into it than the moon landing. Now the San Diego-based peripheral manufacturer has unveiled the Razer DeathStalker Ultimate, a keyboard it claims, is the smartest in the world. The device comes with a 4.05-inch touch screen capable of running widget apps.
Among the keyboard’s highlights are its Switchblade user-interface with a customizable LCD trackpad and LED keypad combo. These features are also found on the Razer Blade gaming laptop and on the company’s Star Wars: The Old Republic gaming keyboard. Its anti-ghosting infrastructure allows users to hold down 10 keys at a time, and the incorporated Synapse 2.0 technology automatically saves custom settings and profiles to a cloud server for easy access from any PC.
In addition to the aforementioned product, the high-performance gaming hardware manufacturer also revealed the Razer DeathStalker, which maintains the standard keyboard layout, but drops in a numpad instead of the Switchblade UI. It still features 10-key anti-ghosting capabilities and Synapse 2.0 support, while sporting the same design as the Ultimate version.
Both keyboards come with a characteristic braided fiber cable and a fixed wrist rest, in addition to chiclet style key caps, 1000Hz ultrapoling and a dedicated gaming mode. While the standard keyboard has just green LED backlit keys, the Ultimate version gets tri-color backlit keys and 5 additional macro keys. At GamesCom 2012, the company also unveiled the Razer Kraken Pro gaming headset.
The Razer DeathStalker Ultimate price is pegged at 249.99 USD or 249.99 euros and it will be made available worldwide and from Razerzone starting in September 2012. The Razer DeathStalker meanwhile is priced at a comparatively meager 79.99 USD or 79.99 euros, while it is expected to touch down in Q4 this year.
