In Other Waters exploration game looks promising

If you claim to like titles with promising aesthetic value, it’s time to put your money where your mouth is and back alien ocean exploration game In Other Waters, right away. It’s up on crowd-funding platform Kickstarter until 9am GMT on Thursday and needs about $2000 or less in pledges to come to life.

In Other Waters puts the players in the body of an operator AI who has to work with xenobiologist Ellery Vas in an attempt to find her colleague Minae Nomura. The latter has vanished into an ocean on one of the many exoplanets humanity intends to harvest for its resources.

Set far into the fictional future, the Earth has been ravaged by humans and mankind is now looking towards the stars to slake its thirst for more resources. Ellery Vas must make a living from dive training and teaching marine science at Zurich University.

She also carries out corporate-funded projects to study exoplanets, to supplement her income. It is one of these explorations that sees her losing Nomura to the deep waters of the alien ocean of Gliese 677Cc and joining hands with the operator AI (the player) to find her partner.
