The game made it to the number one slot with respect to units sold and is noted to have acquired the top spot on the App Store charts until just recently. Boasting a price tag of just $2.99 (approx. Rs.138), the company reveals that Plants vs. Zombies grossed over $1 million.

“Plants vs. Zombies is our latest major franchise to make the jump to iPhone, and from the early customer and critical feedback it appears to be a great adaptation of the game. There’s always a concern when bringing a computer game to a mobile, pocket-sized device that something will get lost in the process, but in this case the overwhelming consensus is that Plants vs. Zombies is even more fun on the smaller touch screen!” exclaimed Andrew Stein, director of mobile business development at PopCap.

PopCap also announced that its title Bejeweled 2 is now the very first paid app to attain 3 million units on the App Store. With these statistics, the company now has three games in all that have emerged out of the crowd of 150,000 apps and made it to the acme spot in the App Store. Other games from PopCap like Chuzzle and Bookworm also constantly grace the top 100 in the App Store.

Plants vs. Zombies was earlier launched on the PC and Mac in May last year. The iPhone and iPod touch version of the game stole the top positions in over 20 countries including the likes of China, Australia, Denmark, Norway, Russia, Germany and Ireland.
