Plants vs. Zombies Blooms on Apple’s App Store

Late last year we reported that the tower defense game Plants vs. Zombies would make its way to the Apple App Store by the end of January 2010. Well better late than never as PopCap Games has announced that Plants vs. Zombies has been released for the iPhone and iPod Touch on the Apple App Store. The iPhone game will stay true to its PC and Mac counterpart.

Plants vs. Zombies

“Plants vs. Zombies for iPhone and iPod touch marks the first adaptation of our wildly popular ‘flower defense’ game to a new platform, and we’re excited at how well it has translated to the iPhone and iPod touch,” said Andrew Stein, director of mobile platforms at PopCap Games. “We’ve stayed true to the original computer version with the full-featured gameplay of Adventure mode, and have optimized this adaptation around a seamless touch interface. Plus, we’ve added great content, including the new Quick Play Arena which allows easy replay of any level after completing the Adventure mode, and more than a dozen achievements to reward successful completion of in-game challenges.”

The game features comedic action throughout its 50 extremely replayable levels, and challenges players to use plants in order to defend their house from encroaching zombies advancing to eat their brain. Players can choose from an ever-growing variety of specialized plants, and must strategically place different types of these plants to stop in the invading zombie horde.

Plants vs. Zombies for the iPhone and iPod Touch features a Quick Play Arena for easy replay of any level which has already been completed, over a dozen achievements for in-game challenges, over four dozen types of plants to choose from, and dozens of zombie types. The new fluid animation technology makes it more visually appealing, while the 11 original musical pieces all increase the intensity of the gameplay.

Plants vs. Zombies for the iPhone and iPod Touch is available on the App Store for 2.39 euros (approx. Rs. 150).
