L-Annhilation Gaming Event Coverage: The First Frag Always Counts

L-Annhilation Gaming Event

It had been a while since we had heard the incessant hollering of individuals echo across halls for quite sometime. But this weekend was different since Delhi Gamers Association along with Razer, Intel and Red Bull had brought a similar feeling with the LAN marathon spread across 48 hours. The tourney kicked off in a lavish mall located in South Delhi where a bunch of enthusiast gamers had assembled during the course of the day. The most surprising thing about the event was that the initiative was taken up by not a professional gaming cafe in the city or some big name multi-national corporation but by two guys who are currently in their final year of engineering.

These guys had put in a lot of effort which was completely worth recognizing into the event despite the hurdles they had faced organizing. Their biggest gripe came in the form of large sponsor who had initially promised to lend support for the event backed out at the last minute. Despite these odds the duo of “Delhi Gamers Association” managed to bring in credible numbers by Sunday evening. On the first day the crowds were thin on the account of the heat wave that has almost crippled the city. As the day went by young enthusiastic gamers from all across the city started to trickle in. They even had clans from Chandigarh coming by and participating in the entire event that was organized.

L-Annhilation was being organized in conjunction with Razer who had lent support in organizing the event. We caught up with Sanjeev Gupta, Business Development Director for Razer, Asia Pacific who was pretty enthralled by the manner in which the event had been organized. He felt that there is a need to nurture talent within the gaming community and feels that events such as these provide outlets for young minds to grow and explore beyond their traditional set of borders. Most gamers that landed at the event were grumbling that another rival LAN party was much better organized than this, which was true in most respects. But for a first time event, we would rate this as a success since even with the odds stacked against this “army of two”, they managed to pull off an event showcasing the fact that they cared for the world of gaming in the country.
