The Deus Ex video game franchise from Eidos is an action role playing game series and a prequel called Human Evolution is currently in development. And now it seems the series will be expanding in another direction as Del Rey Books are set to publish a novel based on the Deus Ex video game series. The novel will go by the title Deus Ex: The Icarus Effect, and will be written by author James Swallow.

The novel is based in the complex world of Deus Ex in the not-so-distant future, where the world has reached a period of great innovation and technological advancement. The limits of human potential are being pushed by new technology and innovation, when dark powers start gathering momentum intent on taking control. Two unlikely heroes – Anna Kelso, an agent of the Secret Service, and Ben Saxon, a soldier in the special ops – come extremely close to a truth, and their choices could alter the course of history.
