2009 has drawn to a close, and you’ll find many lists online about various bests of 2009. According to gaming blog Kotaku, online retailer Amazon has come up with its own video game best sellers of 2009. And the victor is undoubtedly the Wii. The home console from Nintendo came out on top, while the Japanese company dominated Amazon’s video game best sellers list holding nine out of the top ten spots.
Amazon’s list of best sellers includes both hardware and software, and the only thing stopping Nintendo from achieving a perfect ten is Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which slotted in at number nine.
The Wii console grabbed the top spot, with the Wii Remote Controller and the Wii MotionPlus accessory coming in at second and third respectively, followed by the white Wii Nunchuk Controller. New Super Mario Bros. Wii is fifth on the list.
At number 6 is Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board, Wii Sports resort is at number seven while Wii Fit comes in at number eight. The ninth and tenth spots go to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Mario Kart Wii with Wii Wheel respectively.
Surprisingly the 120 GB PS3 Slim only featured in at number 17 on Amazon’s list, while the Xbox 360 doesn’t even feature in the top 100. This does not conclusively show that the consoles are less popular, but could mean that few purchase them from the online retailer.
