EA Mobile Announces Four New Movie-based Games

EA Mobile, a part of Electronic Arts, is primarily into producing games for mobile phones. The affiliate is set to launch 4 new mobile phone games based on the latest Hollywood movies in 2009. The movie-based titles include Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, G.I. JOE The Rise of Cobra, Star Trek and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Adam Sussman, VP Worldwide Publishing, EA Mobile stated, “There are a lot of great movies this summer that translate into exciting mobile entertainment experiences, including these phenomenally popular franchises. These are four of the hottest films this year, and EA Mobile is proud to bring fantastic game companions of each title to mobile phones.”

These titles will allow fans to experience the excitement of portraying their favourite movie characters on their mobile devices. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, players can join Harry, Ron and Hermione as they battle evil forces and explore the interactive setting of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Players can also interact with other characters in the new free roaming environment.

G.I. JOE The Rise of Cobra has been developed under license from Hasbro. Players can assist Conrad R. “Duke” Hauser, Shana “Scarlett” O’Hare, and Wallace “Rip Cord” Weems battle Cobra Commander’s henchmen. The missions in this side scrolling action game will have the fans using the latest technology and vehicles.

Wolverine is one of the most popular X-Men characters from the Marvel Comics universe. X-Men Origins: Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman, is a blockbuster Hollywood film based on the same character. In the X-Men Origins: Wolverine mobile game, players battle enemy mutants as they try to discover Wolverine’s true origin.

The Star Trek game is based on the world famous Star Trek franchise. In it, gamers will assume the role of Captain of the USS Enterprise and take on the dreaded Klingons, Cardassions and Vulcans. The mobile game provides several exciting gameplay scenarios which add to its replay value.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is available on feature phones whereas Star Trek is available for feature phones and the iPhone. G.I. JOE The Rise of Cobra and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince are both expected to be available on feature phones sometime in July. The prices of the games are not known at this point.
