WoW Player Makes Threats to Hijack Plane, Kill Americans

World of Warcraft is the massively multiplayer online role playing game. Players must create an avatar and join either the Alliance or the Horde. Now Destructoid is reporting that according to the Indy Star, a teenage resident of Johnson County, Indiana took WoW role playing to the extreme, proclaiming that he would hijack a plane.

The website notes that the eighteen year old had said that he “was going to board a plane at 7:30 to Chicago and that (he) was going to try and kill as many Americans as possible”. Apparently the guy was reported by an online gaming centre facilitator, after he had elaborated a few times about what he would do.

When authorities confronted him, he first claimed that someone had hacked into his computer and made the threats. He later recanted saying he was testing a theory to see whether cops would show up his house if he made terrorist threats.

The FBI is looking into the matter and has seized the teen’s computer. The prankster could have charges against him, filed with the U.S. Attorney’s office.
