Red Eagle Games Partners with EA for Games Based on The Wheel of Time series

A recent announcement by Red Eagle Games reveals that the company has entered in to an agreement with Electronic Arts (EA) to globally distribute titles based on the popular Robert Jordan’s series The Wheel of Time.

While the titles will be developed and published by Red Eagle games, EA will be distributing the games.

The fantasy series of Robert Jordan have actually managed to catch the attention of readers ever since the first book The Eye of the World was published in 1990. Ever since there have been 11 more books which also includes 1 prequel to the series. The popular books boast of being translated in nearly 24 different languages and have sold about 44 million copies all over the world.

As for the two companies, they have teamed up to develop, publish and distribute a wide array of stand alone games for many videogame platforms. This includes personal computers and consoles along with handheld and other wireless devices. Red Eagle also plans to release and get into motion a large-scale multiplayer online RPG which will incorporate themes, characters and the locales from The Wheel of Time. The title will be distributed by EA.

While Jordan passed away in 2007, a final book called A Memory of Light is on its way. The book is being finished by fantasy writer Brandon Sanderson. Equipped with notes and a partial draft with Jordan’s wife and editor, Harriet Rigney, Brandon hopes to publish the book by fall 2009 through Tor Books.

We can’t wait to see Red Eagle Games and EA make the best of their partnership to deliver some really exciting titles to enthusiastic gamers.
