World of Warcraft is the fantasy massively multiplayer online role playing game from Blizzard Entertainment. There was even talk of a Warcraft movie based on the game, and earlier we reported that Sam Raimi had been brought on board to direct. Now, speaking to MTV News, Raimi has revealed that ‘Saving Private Ryan’ screenwriter Robert Rodat, will pen the script for the mega budget World of Warcraft movie.
“We would have our writer, Robert Rodat, really craft an original story within that world that feels like a World of Warcraft adventure,” director Sam Raimi said. “Only obviously it’s very different ’cause it’s expanded and translated into the world of a motion picture.”
Raimi seemed up beat about having Rodat on board for the project. Rodat’s previous screenplays include 1997’s Saving Private Ryan and 2000’s The Patriot. The Warcraft movie is being produced by Legendary Pictures, and so far no news on casting or a release date has been announced.
