The World of Warcraft is a highly acclaimed MMORPG by Blizzard Entertainment and was released sometime in 2004. Now, according to Ain’t It Cool, Sam Raimi has been signed on to direct a mega budget World of Warcraft movie. The famous director has earlier been a part of hit movies such as Spiderman and Evil Dead.
Blizzard confirmed the news and revealed that the film will be produced by Charles Roven of The Dark Knight fame, while Blizzard and Legendary Pictures will join hands with co-financer and distributor, Warner Bros. The WoW movie has apparently been titled Warcraft. The story of the film will take place around a year before the beginning of WoW and will be divided in to several sub plots. It will highlight the conflict between the different cultures that adorn the WoW universe.
The release dates and cast of the film will be revealed gradually as film plans progress. Sam Raimi will shoot for Spider-Man 4 next year alongside supervising the development of the live-action Warcraft movie.
