Microsoft recently opened the Avatar Marketplace where Xbox Live users could buy a variety of stuff such as clothing and items for their Xbox 360 Avatars. The Avatar Marketplace items comprise of likenesses of real world apparel from brands such as Adidas and Quicksilver, and game-related items from games including BioShock, Gears of War 2, and a few Halo games.
Now Infinity Ward’s Robert “fourzerotwo” Bowling sends word via a Twitter post that fans of the CoD series will be able to overload their Avatars with items from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Some of the Xbox Live Avatar items for Modern Warfare 2 will “hopefully” be free.
“We are making avatar items. With some free ones hopefully,” Bowling makes known via the Twitter post. The community manager for Infinity Ward does not give any definitive information on Avatar rewards. “Not sure we’ll be doing any Avatar rewards,” he says on the post.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled to release on November 10, 2009.
