A few days ago, we had reported that Shinji Mikami, the creator of the Resident Evil series had said that he would not play Resident Evil 5, the latest iteration in the RE franchise. RE 5 is being produced by Jun Takeuchi. He has now spoken to Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu about western game developers and it seems that he is worried about their impact.
UK-based gaming industry news website Develop Mag is reporting that Jun Takeuchi said, “I am worried about the movements of Western developers. Japan is now their target, it is the last big marketplace. The truth is that Western studios are making great games, and they are going to continue to do so next year too.”
Takeuchi, however, seemed optimistic about the domestic games market of Japan and said that he hopes that 2009 turns out great for the Japanese games industry as a whole. Jun Takeuchi also spoke about Resident Evil 5 and said that it will finally release this year and then Capcom will take their next step.
