E3 2009 Expo Officially Announced by ESA

Two days ago, we had reported that plans were afoot to expand E3 2009. There were apparently plans for having a broader audience. Now the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has sent word that E3 2009 will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) from June 2-4, 2009.

John Riccitiello is the chief executive officer of Electronic Arts. He had earlier said that he hated E3 the way it was this year. But now he seems happy! Riccitiello said, “The E3 Expo will be the pre-eminent North American gaming show next year. The new, larger event is better for industry leaders and for serious gamers.”

Michael D. Gallagher is the CEO of the ESA. He quoted, “Video games are the fastest growing and most convincing sector of the entertainment industry. And, this upgraded event will reflect the growth, innovation and excitement of our industry. The span scope and quality of the changes made to the show will make E3 the must-attend event of the year.”

According to ESA, the changes were carried out after qualitative and quantitative research. E3 2009 will not only be open to ESA members but also the non members. They are also expanding the list of companies qualified to take part. More information will be made available by ESA later on.
