Consumer is the Winner in Console Wars: Sony

It’s been quite a long time since the three current generation consoles have been released. Be it Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo, their respective consoles have done well. Now David Reeves from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has pointed out that consumer is the winner ultimately.

In an interview with gaming news website Eurogamer.net, Reeves was queried on the console war overall. He replied that he and his colleagues do not think about the console wars much. The SCEE president then went on to say that they stand by the controversial statement they made about having a bigger installed base than Xbox 360 in Europe. He then pointed out in the end, the consumer is the winner.

David Reeves explained, “But I think – and I keep repeating this, that the more important thing is the growth in the marketplace is just absolutely phenomenal. The winner is the consumer. That is why we are not going to slag off Microsoft or Nintendo at all, because again it’s rather like the trainer market: one year it’s Reebok, next year it’s Nike, and then suddenly it’s Adidas; it’s cyclical, but in the end everyone wins in five to ten years.”

Reeves also spoke about Grand Theft Auto IV and pointed out that though Microsoft had received a boost from the blockbuster game by Take-Two, it had fallen back since then. So do you agree with David Reeves? Comments can be typed in below…
