Sony Extends Closed Beta Testing for PlayStation Home, Delays Open Beta Service

Sony PlayStation Home Important details on the open beta and the closed beta testing for PlayStation Home have been announced by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI). The company states that it has planned to expand the closed PlayStation Home beta this summer. This step is to call in more PS3 users. The PlayStation Home Open Beta service is slated to kick off in fall 2008, as soon as the Expanded Closed Beta test comes to an end.

Kazuo Hirai, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment comments, “We understand that we are asking PS3 and prospective PS3 users to wait a bit longer, but we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today.”

He further adds, “Our overarching objective is to provide users with new gaming experiences that are available only on PlayStation Home. Spending more time on the development and on the Closed Beta testing reaffirms our commitment to bringing a quality service, maintaining the PlayStation tradition.”

Sony will announce the registration for the test and the opening of the service in the near future as they become available. Gamers will enjoy the PlayStation Home Open Beta service that would offer new and fun community gaming experiences.
