More Instruments, Vocals being added to Guitar Hero, says Activision CEO

Guitar Hero logo The fourth installment of Neversoft’s Guitar Hero franchise will bundle additional instruments, pretty much on the lines of those packed in rival Harmonix’s Rock Band (PS2, PS3, Wii, X360), revealed Activision Chairman and CEO Bobby Kotick.

Now this piece of news doesn’t come as a total shocker, since the stupendous success of the multi-instrument rhythm game Rock Band, which features drums and vocals on top of guitars, got people contemplating that the traditionally guitar-only Guitar Hero franchise would see the addition of more instruments in the long run.

Speaking with Conde Nast Portfolio, Kotick mentioned, “[Guitar Hero IV’s] not just about guitars.” Adding, “We’ll include a lot of other instruments, vocals. It will help us expand internationally. It’s the first game we’ve had in which we can use local content and local bands.”

Now what remains to be seen is that if the GH franchise is going to include all these new exciting features, what would be Harmonix’s next move towards enhancing its franchise.
