MTV Responds To the Rock Band Lawsuit by Konami

The video games world previously has been rocked by lawsuits and most of them have been related to patents in some way or the other. One controversy that has been brewing from the last two days has been that Konami had sued MTV-owned Harmonix Music Systems, makers of Rock Band, over violating three patents that were related to music games.

Now MTV News is reporting that they received a response from a MTV spokesperson, who explained about the lawsuit, “Konami’s actions are extremely surprising. Unfortunately, successful products such as ‘Rock Band’ can often become targets for baseless litigation. We have substantial defenses to this claim and intend to vigorously defend it.”

However, Konami is tight lipped about the whole Rock Band lawsuit thing. A representative from Konami has mentioned that they do not comment on pending litigation. Harmonix was previously worked on Konami’s music game Karaoke Revolution.
