It has now been confirmed at 2K’s post earning conference to its investors that BioShock 2 is definitely in production and is stated for a Q4 2009 release. The title is being developed by 2K Martin instead of 2K Boston/2K Australia who worked on the original version.
When asked by an analyst if Ken Levine the head of 2K Boston / 2K Australia will be working on the sequel, Chairman Strauss Zelnick said, “Ken is a terrific asset in the company and he is a brilliant game developer and he will be working on Bioshock 2 as well as a new IP. With one of the strongest release schedules in the industry, Take-Two is clearly well positioned for the future.”
In addition to Grand Theft Auto 4, the end of fiscal 2008 will see the launch of several titles like Midnight Club: Los Angeles, Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution, Top Spin 3, and Don King Presents: Prizefighter. For fiscal 2009 which begins in October- November 2009, the company plans additional GTA 4 episodic content, Mafia II, Borderland, Bioshock 2. In the conference call the company also promised one, still unnamed AAA title coming out of Rockstar in fiscal 2009.
