Animal Themed Video Games to be made by Discovery and Activision

Discovery Communications is a big entertainment company and now it seems that they are planning to foray into interactive entertainment also. According to a Reuters article, Discovery Communications is collaborating with video games publisher Activision to come up with animal-themed games.

David Zaslav, who is the chief executive of Discovery, spoke about this at the Reuters Media Summit. He said, “We are really trying to get away from being a cable company and into being a content company.” The first games will be related to titles from their Animal Planet channel. It was earlier revealed by a representative from the company that Orangutan Island and Meerkat Manor but later Discovery clarified that they have not made any decisions regarding the shows that will be made into games.

These animal themed games by Discovery Communications and Activision are expected to release in late 2008. TV channels like Discovery have previously entered the world of video games. Some time ago, a game called Great Battles of Rome was announced by the History Channel along with Slitherine Software
