Jack Thompson Counter-Sues Video Games Publisher Take Two Interactive

In order to thwart Florida lawyer Jack Thompson from preventing the release of Grand Theft Auto IV and Manhunt 2, Take Two Interactive had filed a complaint against Thompson. However, the lawyer has counter-sued Take Two!

Take Two Interactive Sued by Jack Thompson

According to Jack Thompson’s defense (From GameSpot):

“Should Thompson improperly bring such an action against the nuisance of selling adult material to children less than 17 years of age, there is an adequate remedy available to Take-Two to defeat such an action and to assess costs against Thompson, as provided by the statute itself. Thus, the attempt in this federal action to preempt the state approach which adequately protects both the public and the defendant in such an action if it has been improperly brought.”

Jack Thompson is also seeking for damages and compensation for his legal fees. But it is very weird to blame video games for the violence in society. Some time ago, we had reported about the Mexican mayor who condemned GRAW 2 for violence. Take Two has been in a lot of trouble lately as its share holders revolted, but there could be some respite for the publishers as there are rumors that Microsoft could be buying Take Two.

Nevertheless, Jack Thompson has managed to anger many gamers. It remains to be seen if he actually manages to stop Grand Theft Auto IV and Manhunt 2 from releasing.
